I always enjoy watching Ernie Banks, Cub shortstop, play baseball. Like a lot of other guys and gals, I wanted to be a shortstop but couldn't because I am a southpaw. Did you ever see a southpaw shortstop in baseball?With my interest in shortstops makes this a great book to read. It' gets even more exciting reading this baseball adventure because Sandy has another interest besides baseball. He likes motorbikes. Will Sandy be a great shortstop if he splits interest? I always thought to be good at anything a person must stay focused on one thing. Just like me read more and enjoy another great sports story by Matt Christopher.
Without a doubt kids of all ages will like this book, I give it five stars, and I'm Marvin P. Ferguson, author of Boys On The Gold Coast.

I checked this book out from my school library back in the late 70's (the original edition) and it became my favorite book. I loved it because I was left-handed, and this book was something I could really relate to. I probably read it 50 times.
Sandy was a kid who loved baseball. But at times it seemed as though he liked Rod and his motorbike more. He also has to leave games early to take care of his sisters. I liked the book and it is full of details about baseball. I also play baseball myself. My favorite part of the book was when Sandy told his coach why he has to leave games early. You guys should all read this book!!!!
